You and your family are welcome at HUMC

Where do I park?

Our main parking lot is on the west side of the church. There are handicapped spaces in the main parking lot and also in the smaller lot on the north side of the building. We have a few parking spaces dedicated for our guests. Feel free to park in one of our ‘reserved for guests’ parking spaces or any other parking space you choose.

Where do I go when I get there?

Enter through the main doors of the church which are located by the circle drive on west side, the parking lot side of the church. On Sundays for worship, you may also enter through the north doors.

What do I do when I get there?

Worship begins at 9:30am but we begin live-streaming and playing music at 9:15am. Come early for a cup of coffee or some lemonade, and a sweet treat in Fellowship Hall. Our worship service generally lasts less than an hour. Following worship, you are welcome to refill your coffee cup and hang around for conversation and fellowship.

What is available for children?

Please check in at the Children’s Check-In Table in Fellowship Hall when you arrive at Heritage. Children begin in worship with their families in the sanctuary. During worship, we invite all children to come forward for Children’s Moment which is toward the beginning of the service. After Children’s Moment, our Sunday School teachers will lead children 3yrs through 5th grade out of the sanctuary to their Sunday School classes in rooms 104 & 105. Following worship, you may pick your child up from the Sunday School classrooms. Contact Elise Mashburn, elisem@heritageumc.org if you have questions about anything Children related.

Is childcare available during worship?

Our nursery is staffed on Sunday mornings during worship and is available for infants and toddlers younger than 3yrs old. The nursery is located in the hall behind the sanctuary in room 115.

What do I wear?

We invite you to wear what you feel comfortable worshipping in. You’ll see ties and dresses as well as jeans and t-shirts. All styles are welcome!

Where should I sit?

You are invited to sit anywhere in the sanctuary where you feel comfortable.

Where is the Sanctuary?

If you enter through the main doors on the west side by the circle drive, the sanctuary is to your left and down the hall on your right. If you enter through the north doors, you will enter directly into the sanctuary. Our greeters and ushers will be happy to guide you to the sanctuary when you arrive.

Is someone going to call on me in worship?

No. We ask that you fill out a yellow visitor card when you arrive so we can bring you a special thank you gift, but we do not have a hand-shaking time or visitor recognition time during worship.

Am I welcome to take communion?

Yes. As part of the United Methodist Church, we practice open communion. All those who believe in Jesus Christ are invited to partake in Holy Communion. We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month, on Easter and on Christmas Eve.

Do you have a Sunday School Hour?

There is an adult Sunday School Class that meets in person from 8:30-9:15am before worship. We also have several small group Bible studies and fellowship groups that meet during the week. We have both in-person and virtual options available for our small group classes. Contact Cindy Svec, cindys@heritageumc.org if you would like a full list of our current Bible studies and small groups.

Children’s Sunday School happens during worship. See more about Children’s Sunday school in the “What is available for children” section on this page.

Youth 6th grade – 12th grade have Youth Group weekly on Sundays from 7:00-8:30pm in room 103. For information about Youth classes and activities, contact Deann Baiza, youth@heritageumc.org

Where can I go if I have other questions?

Our ushers are happy to answer any questions you may have and help you find your destination, or ask Dawn Beck, our Director of Worship Engagement. If you would like to visit us during the week, or have questions before you come, call the church office, or email Dawn, dawnb@heritageumc.org and we’ll set up a time to meet.
