What is Maundy Thursday? The “Maundy” in Maundy Thursday means “commandment” or “mandate”. As we prepare our hearts for the sadness of Good Friday and the joy of Easter, we gather and remember how Jesus gathered his disciples around the table that night, and gave them a new commandment.
Jesus said, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” – John 13:34
On Maundy Thursday, we commit to live as Jesus commands and to love one another.
