Gracious and merciful God, we cry out to you to hear the prayers of your people. We have been here so many times before. Conquests of the weak hurt your people and terrify those of us who are watching in horror. How can we be here, again? Have we not learned the pain of war? There are children who will know the heartache of being forced from their homes and having the families torn apart. There ar4e some who will be scarred by watching neighbors die. Lord, we know this breaks your heart as it breaks our hearts. We know that you do not desire evil to triumph. We also know you want us, those who are called to be your voice, your hands and your feet, to pursue justice for all people everywhere.
Guide us, Lord, to know what to do and what to refrain from doing. Show us the way to the true peace that you want for your people. We may not be able to see the future you hold, but we believe it is for the good of all creation. Help us not to add to the destruction that is occurring. Give us strength to wait upon you and to act guided solely by your wisdom. You, O Holy One, are just and faithful.
We want to walk in the light of your grace and truth. Let us not be persuaded by rhetoric but listen to the still small voice that is you speaking into our lives. We trust you are with us, in us and will work through us.
In the precious name of Jesus our Savior, we pray. Amen.
