“And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.” – (Luke 1:46-49NRSV)
God of grace, we praise you and adore you. We hear the song of Mary as she celebrates your gift, and we are awed by her courage. This young woman embraced the blessing and the challenge of bearing your Son. Her faith stood firm as others judged and misunderstood her. We can only imagine the stares that she endured as Jesus grew within her. As we prepare to celebrate his birth again this Christmas, we are filled with awe. Knowing the plans that you put in place…knowing you chose to take on human form, fills us with wonder. You who created the heavens and earth chose to be laid in a manger. Such love is hard to comprehend…yet fills us with great joy!
Help us, Precious Lord, not to lose sight of your gift. Fill us with desire to bear your presence in the world. Guide us to love, so others feel the peace you freely offer. Emmanuel, pour hope within those who need your healing Light. And strengthen our trust in your power for nothing is impossible for you. Like Mary, teach us to sing the Good News of your coming, so all celebrate your holy name. All glory be to you, King of Kings. Let your peace reign among us. Amen!
