The mission of HUMC’s Children’s Ministries is to create and support a church environment where children experience God’s love and become Christian disciples.

We offer Children’s Sunday School programs for 2 year olds – 5th grade (youth programs are also available for 6th – 12th grades) during our 10:30 worship service. Our nursery is available during the 9:00 worship service. We base our classrooms on your child’s age/grade by Sept. 1.  We use a variety of curriculum that help our children grow in their faith and get passionate about God’s word.  During the summer we DO offer Sunday School, but room assignments and curriculum may vary.

  • 2 year old classroom – room 109
  • Preschool classroom (3-5 yr. olds) – room 104
  • Younger Elementary classrooms (Kindergarten – 3rd grades) – rotate between 3 different classrooms – rooms 101, 102 & 108
  • Older Elementary classroom (4th & 5th grades) – Heritage House – south room

Children’s Sabbath Service – Happens in October, during both services. The children help the pastor with worship using their God-given gifts of music, speaking and dance.

Trunk or Treat – Late October.  Join us dressed in your Halloween costumes on the church parking lot where you will find decorated trunks handing out lots of treats and prizes. There are also fun games for all! This is a safe and fun way to enjoy the Halloween season.

Christmas Events – opportunities for your children to help in worship with music, acting and dance. Events occur in November and December.

Easter Celebration – Saturday before Easter. Come and join us for our annual Easter Egg hunt. There are also games and crafts. What a wonderful way to celebrate our risen Lord!

TopicParents will practice the 5 steps for self-regulation so children can learn healthy responses to emotional upset, and be able to calm and regulate no matter what happens life. To be able to help children learn to self-regulate, adults must use the Power of Love, which encourages us to see the best in others. From the Power of Love, we gain the Skill of Positive intent.  Attributing positive intent to children integrates the brain; increasing the capacity for trust, safety and moral behavior.

Cathy Lancelotta, Director of Heritage Preschool and Conscious Discipline, Certified Instructor will be presenting for this Conscious Discipline Family Forum.

4th Grade Bible Presentation – Mid- late August, Our 4th graders are presenting with the gift of God’s word.
