WEEK 1: Faith Tips

Changing eating or exercise habits may seem like an unreachable goal, and it may be… without God’s help.  We need to plug into God’s power, which is freely given to us.

¨ Start by admitting we can’t do it on our own, and we need God.

¨ Choose to depend on God’s Holy Spirit every moment, especially in our weak moments.

¨ Ask God for the power that is promised in Ephesians 1: 18-20. “So that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you…  God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places.”

¨ Meditate on a single verse.  Then repeat it when you really want that doughnut.

¨ Daily quiet time- 10 min or more/day – Meditate on what you read in the Bible and write down what you learn.

¨ Pray the prayer from page 71 in The Daniel Plan book. “Father, I want to do what I need to get healthy and glorify you.  I know I can’t do this on my own.  I have tried and I’ve failed, and I am nervous that I will fail again.  I’m willing to do my part, Lord, and I am going to faithfully trust that you are working to help me succeed.  I’m learning that you want me to succeed more than I do.  Help me see your hand in this quickly, and keep me encouraged as I work toward better health.  Amen.”
