Over the next few months we will be sharing with you the what, the why and the where of your giving dollar.

Our first topic is Mission Share. Many of you have asked what is Mission Share, how is it determined, where does the money go? It is not a mandatory bill like the mortgage, electric bill or salaries but it is an expectation of every United Methodist Congregation. What makes it so important?  This week we discuss what is Mission Share.

Mission Share is our way of Sharing God’s gifts

The main way we support the ministries of the denomination is through our apportioned funds otherwise known as Mission Share, a method of giving that proportionally allocates the churchwide budget to conferences and local churches.

For United Methodists this method of giving has become a strong, generous tradition.

Through the conference mission shares, the Great Plains Conference pays its General Church Apportionments. Connectional giving is built upon our desire to meet the needs of God’s family in our neighborhoods and around the world and our need to give in order to be spiritually healthy, complete children of God.

Together, through our connected congregations, we accomplish what no single church, district or annual conference ever could hope to do alone. In this way, each individual, each family, each congregation gives a fair share for the church’s work. We combine our prayers, presence, gifts and service to make a significant difference in the lives of God’s people.

Thanks to your faithful stewardship we are able to support the ministries of Heritage United Methodist Church.
